what we BELIEVE

Many churches have a statement of faith. The Intersection has Core Beliefs but doesn't get tangled up in doctrines. These beliefs filter through everything that we teach and do. These are beliefs that we teach about. Whether you agree with us now or not, you are welcome to come be a part of our community. In fact, we really like hearing different points of view, so don't be shy. With that in mind, The Intersection is passionately pursuing the truth that God has given us and believes that the time for these ideas has finally come.

We believe...
  1. Change takes time. We don't expect you to be perfect in order to participate at Freedom Life.
  2. God's love is without condition. God doesn't expect anything in return from you. He gives you His life to have and enjoy without owing Him a thing.
  3. A community should be a safe place where you are greeted with a smile and the message is uplifting.
  4. Diversity matters. Not just racial diversity, but diversity in all its forms. That means no matter who you are, you are welcome and wanted.

We believe that God is the creator of all things good, be it the universe, energy, light, or love - we believe that God is all and in all. More specifically, we believe that God is exactly like Jesus Christ. The invisible God is clearly and perfectly made visible in the Person of Jesus for all humanity to know.
We believe that humanity is made in the likeness and image of God, and therefore has infinite worth and value. You are loved and lovable!

The Bible
We believe the Bible is an awe-inspiring library of stories, songs, poems, and letters that have are so powerful that they have inspired humanity for thousands of years. The Bible speaks to us in a way that helps us to get to know God and understand ourselves in intimately. We understand the Bible to be one of God's best sources that reveal the Word of God (Jesus), and an intersection where the Divine and Humanity meet.

New Covenant Freedom
We believe when Jesus died, He confirmed that God is non-violent and unlike the "gods" humanity created in times past. The 'New Covenant' is a promise from God to be God for all humanity, not counting sin, giving us complete freedom. This freedom was worth dying for, and it is our heart that each individual remains free. This means that religion should not re-establish bondage in one's life.

We believe marriage is the highest form of commitment and deepest expression of love humanity knows. It is an example of God's commitment to us and is sacred, honorable, and holy. Whether entered into by members of complementary genders, or the same gender, we embrace, respect, and promote marriage.

The Supernatural
We believe in the modern ongoing ministry of the five-fold equippers of Ephesians 4. All the supernatural gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit are for today. We believe the normal Christian life is a supernatural life. We are not spooky or a spectacle; we are supernatural.
Advancing the Kingdom
We believe that King Jesus came and established His kingdom in the first century. This kingdom has been growing and expanding since the first century, going from glory to greater glory. By the kingdom expanding, Jesus' prayer is being progressively answered and it is becoming on earth as it is in heaven.

Victorious Eschatology
We believe that the Kingdom of God will continue to grow and subdue the earth. We believe that when the New Testament writers spoke of the "last days" they were referring to the end of the Old Covenant Age, not the end of the world.

We believe that spiritual models are necessary and important for spiritual growth. There is no hierarchy in the Kingdom of God, but there are examples, which can be looked up to and can serve as "foot-washers" and encouragers to the Body of Christ.
Other Faith Traditions
We believe that God is too big to be confined to a single faith. There is value and wisdom to be found in many faiths in addition to Christianity. We choose to focus on our commonalities, through the bond of peace, thoughtfully discussing our differences.
